Celebration of Independence Day at Jeeva Jyothi Trust
This year's Independence Day was celebrated at Jeeva Jyothi Trust which is an orphanage run by Ms. Christine Pope and Mr. Anthony, both U.N. workers, near Bhugathahalli on the outskirts of Mysore city.
The program started off with the flag hoisting by our president Ln. N Subramanya, and then singing the National Anthem. Ln. Shekara talked about the importance of celebrating this day.
GardenCity Lions then distributed school bags containing student materials like books, pencils, pens, compass and also 2 pairs of slippers and underwears to all the children in the orphanage.
A painting competition was conducted for the children.
The children then presented a few cultural programs which were entertaining.
Mr. Anthony took the lions around the farm area and explained their activities.
A tug of war competiton was held for the children, which they enjoyed very much.
Overall it was a fun day for both the visiting lions and the residents.
